Biography

Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Anton Lindenblatt (he/they) is a queer and neurodivergent composer who aims to introduce experimental and interactive elements to music education, with a focus on school concert bands and small ensembles.​

Studying euphonium performance and pedagogy with Dr. Nick Sullivan and composition with Dr. Arlan Shultz, Anton graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2023, obtaining a BMus. with Great Distinction. During this time, he collaborated with students and local ensembles, including the nationally awarded Con Brio Trio (piano trio) and the Strike5 Brass Quintet

As a performer, Anton has participated in several ensembles and programs. During his time in Lethbridge, he played euphonium and trombone in the University of Lethbridge Wind Orchestra and was the low-brass section leader for the 2021-2022 season. In addition, Anton performed with the UofL Global Drums Ensemble for 1.5 years, playing international percussion, including steel pan and Zimbabwean marimba.

He has been extremely active within the Lethbridge Community Band Society, playing euphonium in the Gold Band and baritone horn in the Brass. Band. Now back in Calgary, Anton is involved with the Westwinds Music Society, playing euphonium in the Wind Orchestra and tuba in the Symphonic Band.

In addition to composition, Anton is active as an educator, previously teaching music theory at Branches Fine Arts Academy in Lethbridge, and is currently a composer-in-residence at his former high school, providing composition lessons for Music 20/30 students.
